A buckwheat pillow is an organic pillow made from buckwheat hulls. This is a traditional Japanese thing that has been exported to other countries, and a lot of people love them. Buckwheat is just a grain that people eat, and like corn it's got husks to it. It used to be really hard to get these traditional pillows in Western countries, but they've become better known and there are now manufacturers that will sell them here.

Organic Buckwheat Pillow - Available online here for $34.99. This is a pretty good quality version - it's made in the U.S., but still based on the traditional Japanese version. All-organic, for anyone concerned about using feathers or cruelty to animals. You should just know that it feels a little harder than a traditional pillow and it can make some noise if you move around (the husks can rub against each other). |
